Love You Hate You Miss You

You know, I always thought I told you everything, but there are some things I should have said but never did. I should have told you about the time I lost your new sunglasses. I know you really liked them. I should have apologized the time I ruined your brand-new skirt, the one with the beading. I should have apologized for a lot of stuff.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything.

No one understands what it's like to know that it's all your fault.

I was completely sucked into this book it only took me a couple of hours to read it, and I was shushing people and begging them to just leave me alone. You might think the title is about a boy well it isn't. Amy is writing letters to her friend Julia or J, but the entire story is not told in letter form its just something Amy does. Her therapist told her to start a journal, but since she thinks thats stupid she just writes letters to J it serves the same purpose really. Amy and J were best friends with a flawless relationship or so Amy thought. J was fun, confident, and everyone loved her. Amy is tall, quiet, and emotional. J protected her, and made her feel included. One night when J and Amy are at a party Amy discovers J's boyfriend is cheating on her. Instead of just telling her Amy allows J to discover her boyfriend actually cheating. J is devastated so Amy suggests they just leave the party. J gets in her car and they leave J is in no condition to drive, but Amy just doesn't use her head. They get into a bad accident and J dies. Everyone blames Amy including Amy she is ripped to pieces. She thinks she is a murderer. Amy gets sent to rehab for alchohol, and thats where she starts the letters. When she returns to school it turns out she is really smart that before the accident she wasn't living up to her potential. The school puts her in all advanced classes, and she meets Patrick in them. She knew him from before however they have a sort of past. Also she reconnects with Caro an old friend from middle school. Amy's life is slowly falling back into place, and the journey of weather she can accept happiness is amazing. Amy is such a fascinating character to watch grow. You can actually feel how numb she is, and you can also feel her start to come alive. She struggles a lot and learns a lot about herself and J. She learns that maybe J wasn't such a flawless friend after all, and she learns to trust. The story is simple, but so complicated. It felt sort of like a Lifetime movie, but I like them so that didn't bother me. Its an emotional but fulfilling experience I'm going to go ahead and push this book on my loved ones.
