Graceling

In a world where some people are born with extreme and often-feared skills called Graces, Katsa struggles for redemption from her own horrifying Grace, the Grace of killing, and teams up with another young fighter to save their land from a corrupt king.

I will be honest with this I tried not one not two but three times to read Graceling. I would get to the first part where Katsa is in the dungeon talking about the map and stuff. Then I would be like oh my Lord where is this thing going I'm already confused. I would then put it down again and again, but I got to the part with Po. He and Katsa fought and I was hooked from that point on, and I even cursed myself for stopping so many times. The chemistry between Katsa and Po is amazing when they are fighting and when they are just talking. Katsa is like a raw wire sparking all around very intense. Po is just brilliant he was just so real and honest for me. The seven Kingdoms float off the page a great world. The fact that Katsa wants to spearhead an organization against her uncle and King Randa excites me. The mystery woven into this story about why Po's Grandfather is kidnapped doesn't smother the plot it enhances it. Po is a character full of secrets with enchanting eyes. He and Katsa are both Graced with abilities, and they can relate to each other so well. They go on a heroic journey to find the answer to the mystery, and to find themselves. They both push each other and make each other stronger. They are both survivors with huge hearts and fierce spirits. Then twists emerge in the story and Katsa and Po overcome great struggles. They meet Bitterblue an incredibly brave girl with so much courage and fight its mesmerizing. Katsa shows true hero like qualities pushing the limit every page. The story is so intense and beautiful I'm so glad I actually finished this one. This book is long and I felt like I had traveled to Monsea. I was seriously out of breath and stunned by the journey on and off the page.

Oh, I'm glad you kept going and it paid off for you. They really are fierce. And Leck scared the crap out of me. I'm excited to see what you think of FIRE!

I have this and Fire both on my shelf to read. It is ashame that something comes up and I don't get to these books. I am going to have to make time for myself to read these books.

Thanks for the honest review!

Yay for not completely giving up on Graceling. Sometimes it pays to read a book all the way through.

I agree so much with you about Po. I loved him! I found the writing to mesmerizing as well.
