The Demon's Lexicon

The Demon's Lexicon (Demons, #1)

Author:Sarah Reese Brennan
Pages: Hardcover 336
Nick and his brother, Alan, have spent their lives on the run from magic.Ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Nick starts to suspect that his brother is telling him lie after lie about their past. As the magicians' Circle closes in on their family, Nick uncovers the secret that could destroy them all.

Sometimes you get extremely lucky and you find a book that has everything you desire in it. All the elements I love to see in a book were in Demon's Lexicon. I started reading and when I was doing other things I just wanted to stop and go read Demon's Lexicon some more. Nick instatntly stole my heart he didn't even have to try very hard. Alan his brother was close behind, and they both had me hooked. The mom never made it into my little circle of friends. I understood some of her pain, and gave her a little sympathy for being crazy. However with Alan around the mom just looked really bad, because Alan is such a good person. Mae and Jamie stumble into the story needing Alan and Nick's help, and they both jumped right off the page. They were so colorful, and alive to me. The way Nick reacted to them at first should have had me alarmed but I just thought it was funny. I don't know if any of you watch the show Supernatural but I love it, and Nick and Alan remind me so much of Sam and Dean. Nick is Dean full of brute force just living life not really feeling anything, and Alan is Sam the book-smart one who will do crazy things to sacrifice himself. I mean they aren't exactly like Sam and Dean, but really similar. The story is so exciting I had no clue what was going on, but I was trying to figure it out it stumped me. I don't know why when the twist became obvious to me I was like how did I not see that coming. On top of the story being extremely entertaining the conversation was witty and hilarious. All the characters were well developed in my opinion even the side characters. The plot was strong, and the ending was perfect. I'm really excited for the sequel
Demon's Covenant to come out in May.
