Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

"Right away I got that Something About To Happen feeling. Right away I knew he was bad, and that it didn't matter."

It is summer in the Northwest town of Nine Mile Falls, and sixteen-year-old Ruby McQueen, ordinarily dubbed The Quiet Girl, finds herself hanging out with gorgeous, rich, thrill-seeking Travis Becker. But Ruby is in over her head, and finds she is risking more and more when she's with him.

In an effort to keep Ruby occupied, Ruby's mother Ann drags Ruby to the weekly book club she runs. When it is discovered that one of the group''s own members is the subject of the tragic love story they are reading, Ann and Ruby spearhead a reunion between the long-ago lovers. But for Ruby, this mission turns out to be much more than just a road trip....

Deb Caletti is now one of my favorite authors she totally sold me. She has a great ability when it comes to story telling. Ruby was an insanely well developed character I felt like I knew her, and understood her. Her mom Grace(her name is totally Ann no idea why I first thought it was Grace) was flawed and real very down to earth. Ruby's father flitted in and out of her life living a life so far away from Ruby then intruding on hers once in a blue moon, that was just perfect. Her little brother Chip Jr. cracked me up he was so cute. This story was just so full of character it was a character story. Everyone just fit together perfectly. You would think you might drown in the sea of personalities but it all just meshed well. The adventure and love story tied everything together. All the old ladies flying around like butterflies throughout Ruby's journey captivated me. They all had important things to bring to Ruby's life everyone cared about her and just helped her grow as a person. The love stories snuck up on me, and they didn't overshadow Ruby at all. This book is just heart warming and fun it reminded me of The Divine Secrets of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood in a way. It was just enjoyable and I really loved it.

I've only read The Nature Of Jade by Deb and I wonder why it is that I've never read more of her stuff. All her books sounds exactly like the kind of YA I love the most. I was just planning on buying this one the other day. I'm glad I waited because I adore her new covers. :D
