The Foretelling

The Foretelling

Author: Alice Hoffman
Pages:192
A stunning tale of primal power and mythic beauty from a New York Timesbestselling author.

Well this book is a very quick read and I finished it in a few hours. Its a beautiful story and unlike anything I have ever read. Rain is the Queen to Be in an Amazon type kingdom all women.. warrior women. They destroy men and use them only for mating. Rain's mother is the Queen and she can't stand Rain because she is a product of rape. Rain can't help it but that doesn't stop her from feeling horrible. Rain is very confused because she starts feeling things and thinking things she shouldn't. In battles she starts to feel mercy for all the wounded men. Then she befriends a slave girl who is white with red hair, and looks so different. Rain wants her to be a warrior to but everyone laughs at them. Rain knows its wrong but she befriends a boy from a Nomad traveling tribe. She feels special around him even though its wrong. She starts to question everything about her people, and she has to go on her journey even if it might turn her people against her. This story is a little weird, but still good. I mean some of it confused me, and I thought Rain made some wrong turns, but it was very fast entertaining story.

I haven't read an Alice Hoffman book in years but this one sounds good. I think all her books are a little weird, but in a good way.
